
Educational Assistance Scholarships
Since 2018, ALCOA’s Kwinana Alumina Refinery has been the program’s major sponsor, currently offering a total of eight sponsorships. The Old Flames Student Assistance Scholarship provides additional opportunities and support to help students thrive, reach their potential and complete their education.
Each year, ALCOA generously sponsors the following scholarships:
Valedictory Scholarships:
- ATAR Dux (1x $750)
- VET Dux (1x $750)
- Strathalmond Trophy (2x $300)
*These scholarships don’t require an application form.
Recipients will be selected following advice from Students Services, in consultation with the Executive team.
Educational Assistance Scholarships:
- Year 11 Sustainability Scholarship (1x $625)
- Year 11 Creative Arts Scholarship (1x $625)
- Year 11 Hospitality Scholarship (1x $625)
- Year 11 Building and Construction Scholarship (1x $625)
Application Process
Students applying for any Educational Assistance Scholarship are required to complete an Application Form in which they explain:
- why they should be awarded the scholarship
- how the scholarship would assist their intended Senior School studies
- how they can make a positive contribution at Gilmore College during their senior years
- their ambitions for the future.
Selection Criteria
- Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
- Applicants for a Year 11 scholarship must be completing Year 10 in the year of application.
- Scholarship recipients must be enrolled at Gilmore College and remain enrolled through Year 11 following the awarding of the scholarship.
- The scholarship recipient will be selected following advice from Student Services, in consultation with the College Executive.
- Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to make a positive contribution to their senior years at Gilmore College.
Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities
Applicants are also expected to:
- complete and submit their application accurately and by the stated deadline
- take responsibility for providing their Semester 1 report and any other required documentation if needed
- attend the scholarship presentation and post-presentation function, where applicable, and be prepared to introduce themselves to sponsors and participate in photographs
- demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to their studies.
