Vocational Education and Training (VET)

The Vocational Education Training (VET) pathways offer a range of Specialist Programs, Standalone Certificates and Workplace Learning programs that integrates education and industry training for students in Years 10, 11, and 12. These VET courses are delivered in conjunction with a Registered Training Organisation. Our aim is to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to be job-ready upon completing high school.

VET Facilities

Peron Trade Training Centre

The Peron Trade Training Centre is a state-of-the-art building equipped with advanced technology and resources to deliver Process Plant Operations and Electrotechnology. The programs are delivered by lecturers from South Metropolitan TAFE. These programs are often described by Industry as ‘a pipeline of talent.’

The Business Hub

The Business Hub is another vital extension, designed to resemble an office environment where Year 11 and 12 students can experience real-life working scenarios. A qualified Trainer and Assessor uses this space to deliver the Certificate II in Workplace Skills course. To enhance their workplace skills and knowledge, students undertake various tasks for Gilmore College staff, such as laminating and document binding, as well as professional printing for invitations and booklets across the school.

Fitness Centre

The Fitness Centre at Gilmore College is an integral facility of the VET pathway. It provides a space for education and hands-on training for students pursuing the Certificate III in Fitness. This fully equipped facility immerses students in a real-world fitness environment, enhancing their practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Careers Centre Office

In addition to the courses, students are welcome to use the Careers Centre office during recess and lunch to meet with our Industry Enterprise Coordinator, Career Practitioner or WPL coordinator.  These sessions support students with resumes, cover letter preparation, mock interviews, lodging apprenticeship and TAFE course applications, and one-to-one career counselling. The Careers Centre Team also supports students with their Workplace Learning logbooks, which demonstrate our students’ involvement and commitment to completing their courses.

Administration Support

Our VET Administration Officer supports the Industry Enterprise Coordinator, in the management and logistics within the VET Team. In addition to general administrative duties, primary responsibilities include: assisting students in applying for their Unique Student Identifiers (USI), data entry in Reporting to Parents (RTP), including enrolling students into their qualifications and units of competency. The VET Administration Officer generates VET uploads to the student Information Record System (SIRS), in line with the guidelines from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), assists with Aptitude Testing, the organisation of the Recognition Day, First Aid courses and other events, activities and VET information sessions.
